Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Chemical API

Location: Hybrid (Birmingham, England, United Kingdom) 

About the role 

We are recruiting for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Chemical API to support a complex capital project environment. The role is based in Birmingham, England, United Kingdom and is offered on a hybrid basis. 

This opportunity sits within the Pharma / Chemical API sector. A group-level technical SME role focused on Chemical API process design, scale-up and facility delivery. We are seeking a Chemical API SME to provide technical leadership in early project phases, support project teams and mentor subject matter expertise across the business. 

Key responsibilities will include 

• act as a technology leader in the nominated specialty area and remain current with industry developments.

• Support site master planning, feasibility, concept and basic design phases.

• Produce or review scoping documents, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, layouts and early-phase reports.

Experience & Qualifications 

Must Have; 

• Strong experience in Chemical API facility design and operations. 

• Knowledge of unit operations, facility layout, safety frameworks and GMP / regulatory environments. 

• Direct experience delivering capital projects for process facility design and construction. 

• Ability to act as a technology leader in the nominated specialty area and remain current with industry developments. 

• Ability to support site master planning, feasibility, concept and basic design phases. 

Desirable; 

• Experience within Pharma / Chemical API environments.
